There are many different kinds of groups that exist between college students that deal with communication they range from sports teams to many community or social groups. The type of organizations that are mostly found in many colleges today are Greek letter organizations. In this paper I will exploring communication within the realm of sororities. First, I am going to start with the history of Sororities, then I am going to write about how important it communication is during what sororities call the pledge process. Furthermore I am going to tell about the different things that sororities have, such as the symbols, colors and different things that may deal with communication. Even though all sororities have different representations for their symbols and colors, they all have them and they mean certain things. Before sororities came about they only had fraternities which dated back the colonial times then later in the mid 19th century so rorities came about due to the decrease in popularity (Encarta). During that period, colleges focused almost exclusively on teaching the classics (Greek and Latin literature) and promoting religious piety, rather than liberal arts (science, history, and literature) or applications of learning such as engineering and agriculture. In response, students created their own outlets to debate the intellectual and political ideas of their time. The early debating societies took on names that reflected classical thinkers or ideas( Encarta). Until the 20th century, most fraternities and sororities excluded African American students. The movement to create organizations for African American students began in 1906 with the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at Cornell University. Two years later, the first sorority for African American women, Alpha Kappa Alpha, was established at Howard University. Globalization and International Sweatshops Essay

Firstly, globalization is good to the extent that it respects each country’s security needs, while at the same time discouraging states which threaten or are likely to threaten global peace. When states are interdependent, despotic leaderships appreciate that jeopardizing global security puts them at the rsik of losing trade connections with other states. Secondly, globalization is good if and when it allows each country to use its economic advantage to compete. States are endowed differently and some are more developed than others. As such, it is important that every state should have the room to use its economic advantage to improve its economy. Lastly, globalization must encourage internationally-acceptable labour practices. Although developing countries may not have identical labour standards as the developed countries, the former must show deliberate effort to improve their labour standards (Reich, n. d). Ciulla would differ sharply with Maitland’s defense of international sweatshops. It is a fact that everybody, including the poorest people in the least developed and badly-governed states have the right to choose their work (Cuilla, n. d). However, this practical range of choice is so narrow that they have no alternative but to work for the sweatshops, inspite of the poor pay and terrible working conditions. Widespread unemployment in the Third World, which compels thousands of the residents to seek employment opportunities in the sweatshops, does not give the latter the right to exploit, abuse the workers or to pay them poorly. Many of the multi-national sweatshops operate branches in the developed world and the developing world. While their workers in the former are paid well and enjoy better employment terms, the workers in the developing world are paid very poorly, yet they are mostly assigned physically-demanding, dirty and dangerous parts of the production process. By employing underage persons, these sweatshops break national and international law. Their influence however means that the host governments turn a blind eye to their malpractices. Nowadays, Food Has Become Easier to Prepare Essay

Man, through the ages, has undergone many changes, from a period when he hunted for his food to the present era when man is dependent on preprocessed foods. During this period not only has man changed his mode of eating but his whole lifestyle as well. In pursuit of more in this competitive world, man no longer has time as he once had. He is caught in a race against the clock. A person who finishes more in lesser time is considered more efficient. This pressure to do more in less time has affected his eating habits as well and, as a result, man no longer has time to cook food. Early man’s only objective was to seek food to sustain him and his family. Nowadays finding food has taken a back seat to other priorities, such as career and education. Food is no longer of that importance. This is not an encouraging trend. People are too dependent on preprocessed or precooked food, which no longer has the freshness it once had. Such foods loose their mineral and vitamin content and are not as healthy as fresh food. That is why the number of diseases is also rising. People have also shifted to high calorie content food like French fries, pizzas, and ice cream, etc., which is causing obesity, fatigue, etc. As man is becoming busy and too involved in his busy schedule, he has no time even to take care of his own personal needs. Furthermore, cooking is an art which is dying out. People once enjoyed cooking . It was a means of eliminating stress and tension. People were once able to relax during this time and reflect on their lives. People may tend to argue that by using precooked and preprocessed food they are efficiently using time and can use this precious time saved for other purposes. But is it really worth it? This is a question whose answer can invite much speculation about whether by saving this little time we are inviting lots of other problems, which could easily be avoided. It is actually making our lives not simpler but more complicated. We have lost many of the simpler things in our lives, like the simple acts of selecting our evening meal, preparing it, and enjoying it with our loved ones, and we are worse off for it.
